Rohit's Sister
Hello, my name is Rohit Kumar, and I want to share the story of my younger sister. It is because of her that I am focusing on empowering females in rural communities.
My Sister
My younger sister, Rajni, has three daughters and one son. When she was pregnant with her third daughter, her husband pressured her—even resorting to torture—to get an abortion. She was inconsolable on the phone with me, not wanting to terminate her pregnancy. However, due to severe threats and abuse, she felt she had no choice but to consider it. On the day of the scheduled abortion, I repeatedly called her husband, who ignored my calls. I then reached out to Rajni, assuring her that I would cover her wedding and dowry costs if she chose to keep the baby.

Rajni decided to keep her baby, and they are now living a safe and happy life. Her beautiful daughter, named Ridhi, is a testament to her bravery. Unfortunately, abortions are very common in rural villages. It is often seen as easier to terminate a pregnancy than to bear the financial burden of raising a child in a low socio-economic environment without access to education or future opportunities.

Thank you for taking the time to read my sister's story. If you have the time, I have written a bit more about my upbringing here. We would greatly appreciate any awareness you can bring to this project. Please share with anyone you feel will benefit from hearing this story.
